David Speirs, 37, goes from Scottish farm to SA Liberals leader

David Speirs, who grew up in Scotland and migrated to Australia with his parents in 2002 when he was 17-years-old, vowed he would not be just a “seat warmer” as the new leader of the Liberal Party in South Australia.

Mr Speirs said he intends to be a “traditional centre-right” leader and will work hard to try to wrestle power away from newly elected Labor Premier Peter Malinauskas at the 2026 state election.
