Clothing, footwear sales battered by COVID-19

Legendary New York Times photographer Bill Cunningham said fashion was the armour people put on to survive the reality of everyday life – but in lockdown, the reality of people’s everyday lives changed dramatically.
Clothes, footwear and personal accessory sales were down 15 per cent year-on-year in August and 25 per cent on the same month in 2019, according to the latest Mastercard SpendingPulse data.
