Chalmers has rebooted energy policy
A mid-term government is now realising that energy and climate must become a focus for the whole Cabinet
Tony WoodEnergy expertFederal Treasurer Jim Chalmers’ speech two weeks ago represented an unprecedented intervention into energy and climate change policy.
He called for a cross-government energy policy that would bring together Australia’s advantages in renewables, public and private capital, and greater involvement by the Productivity Commission. The intervention is necessary and important in ways that history may judge either kindly or otherwise.
