Brisbane set to steal a march on southern capitals

Queensland has been spared the lengthy lockdown periods that the southern states faced during the pandemic and footfall is increasing rapidly in its city areas.

Statistics and anecdotes have Brisbane on the front foot for recovery in the commercial-office market, although at least one forecast is for its CBD vacancies to stabilise rather than fall.

CBRE Australia’s statistics show the Queensland offices at 55 per cent full occupancy and 40 per cent partial occupancy in the week beginning March 22, up from 35 per cent and 60 per cent, respectively, for the January 27 week. They are the highest full-occupancy rates except for Western Australia and South Australia.
