Big Pineapple redevelopment turns sour

The $300 million redevelopment of the iconic Big Pineapple tourism attraction on the Sunshine Coast remains up in the air after an ongoing legal dispute between the owners.

The delays to the development – which was meant to include expanding the existing events facilities, a new 120-room resort hotel and more camping facilities as well as a food hub, including a possible craft brewery or winery – have resulted in the Palaszczuk government pulling the pin on a promised $2.5 million grant for the project.
