Malcolm Turnbull puts social media companies on notice over encryption

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has warned social media companies providing secret messaging services such as WhatsApp that the government will enact law enforcement powers to crack open encryption.
Calling for cooperation from tech-companies to tackle terrorism, paedophilia and other serious crimes, Mr Turnbull said there was a need for operators to recognise their broader responsibilities.
