The Turnbull government is redoubling efforts to secure the passage of its company tax cuts after the Senate handed it its biggest victory to date by passing the three-stage, $144 billion income tax cuts package.

Passage of the income tax cuts, the federal budget centrepiece, was achieved on Thursday with the support of the Senate crossbench and sets the scene for a fight all the way to the federal election with Labor, which is vowing to repeal the second and third stages of the cuts, which provide relief to people earning above $90,000.
