Wall St slips on rate bets, election worries

The S&P 500 Index extended its longest losing streak in more than three decades, as data bolstered speculation interest rates will rise before year-end and investors remained wary before the looming presidential election.

Equities faded in afternoon trading as an advance led by drug makers lost momentum, overshadowed by declines among consumer, financial and energy shares. Procter & Gamble and Amazon.com were among the biggest drags. Insurer Willis Towers Watson tumbled 5.6 percent after cutting its full-year revenue forecast.
