Three ideas for ASIC to revitalise Australia’s public markets

As ASIC considers the vast array of reform ideas from its review, it’s critical that public markets aren’t contaminated by bad practices.

The Australian Securities and Investments Commission has taken the crucial first step to revitalise the nation’s shrinking capital markets by streamlining the path to public listing.

The corporate regulator will fast-track public offerings in a two-year trial by informally reviewing prospectuses two weeks before their official lodgement. The initiative also clears the way for retail broker bids to be processed just one week after the documents are lodged, during what is known as the “exposure period”.
