Gaming giant Tabcorp is in the race for a wagering deal with New Zealand's state-owned TAB betting agency as part of a push into overseas markets to diversify its earnings.
The move by Tabcorp, revealed by the AFR's Street Talk column on Tuesday, will probably see it bid for the management rights of the TAB's fixed-odds business, potentially putting it in prime position should the government privatise its betting unit in the future.
