Investors’ interest left out of the public issue equation
The stock exchange announcement of November 1965 could find an echo when we read about the cartel case today.
After weeks in which public investment confidence has once again been shaken, the Australian Associated Stock Exchanges has announced they did not consider it “practicable” to require underwriters to disclose the results of public issues.
This statement should increase pressure for outside representation on controlling bodies of the stock exchanges as long as these bodies control the securities industry.
