The Australian sharemarket’s lofty valuation and “unattractive” profit outlook are forcing local investors into riskier sectors such as small caps and technology in search of elusive earnings growth.
The S&P/ASX 200 retreated since being swept up in a global rally that propelled the index to a fresh all-time high last week. The benchmark sank 1.7 per cent on Tuesday alone.
