Big retailers such as Bunnings, IKEA and Chemist Warehouse should be excluded from proposed beefed up operating rules for the food and grocery sector, industry leaders say.
As Labor considers tough new powers for supermarkets that abuse their market share or mistreat suppliers under a mandatory code of conduct, a parliamentary inquiry is probing the reach of big-box retail chains selling everyday household items.
