Davos, Switzerland | Mining company South32 is scrambling to retool its Colombian nickel mine in response to an Indonesia-fuelled glut that has sent ructions through the global nickel industry.
The Cerro Matoso mine is a significant producer of ferronickel, but South32 boss Graham Kerr said his company might have to take steps to avoid the fate of First Quantum, which has shut its Ravensthorpe mine, and BHP, which is aiming to slash costs.
