Voters did not understand the Voice to parliament proposal and did not trust politicians to design its powers, Liberals for Yes leader Kate Carnell says, arguing Labor should not have proceeded without bipartisan support.
“From my experience out on the campaign trail, the feedback we got all the time was ‘we need more information’. The general feedback was ‘we don’t trust parliament’,” she told The Australian Financial Review in the wake of Saturday’s bruising defeat.
