Labor’s climate ‘super majority’ targets miners, emitters, drivers

Miners and farmers face a wave of tough new environmental enforcement rules after Labor announced a last-minute plan in the dying hours of the election campaign to establish an independent conservation watchdog.
The move adds to what are likely to be a range of post-election changes for how companies manage habitat protections, and come on top of a more aggressive push to accelerate Australia’s decarbonisation under a Labor government.
