Canada’s Conservative and Liberal parties are tussling for the lead in polls less than a week out from an early election called by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau seeking to take advantage of gains made during the pandemic.
For the past three weeks, Conservative leader Erin O’Toole has led the polls, after Mr Trudeau’s snap election call was interpreted as a greedy power grab after six years in the top job, according to a Liberal strategist quoted by Reuters.
