Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce has put his Coalition partners on notice that the National Party is seeking major pay-offs if it is to support Liberals wanting a more ambitious decarbonisation target ahead of November’s UN climate summit.
As sources confirmed that both sides are actively seeking a common solution to upgrading Australia’s Paris commitments, Mr Joyce left no doubt at a National Press Club function on Friday that he intends to put on a display of hardball.
