Saving the economy was a joint effort

At 12.30pm on Wednesday, an hour after the Australian Bureau of Statistics confirmed the economy was no longer in recession, both ends of the political spectrum delivered their verdicts.
At the National Press Club, ACTU secretary Sally McManus put it down to the essential workers, especially those in low-paid and insecure work, many of whom continued to go to work when the dangers of the coronavirus were still unclear.
