Steelmaker BlueScope says its China division won't make any profit in the June-half as the output from its four main plants in that country are severely curtailed by the coronavirus outbreak, and as it grapples with logistics disruptions in the supply chain.
Chief executive Mark Vassella also said there was a risk an extended outbreak which spread to other countries could be a dampener on global growth rates for the steel industry. "The potential for that to happen is there,'' he said.
