The 20 best wines of 2019 (including a surprise $10 bottle)
The story of wine this year was one about taste, not dollars, for drinks writer Max Allen. He shares his pick of wines, including a $10 bottle from Aldi.
Wine people talk about value a lot. Most often, they’re referring to “value for money”: is wine X worth the asking price? Is the winemaker charging too much? Value for money doesn’t always mean “cheap” in this context, of course: an outstanding $100 wine that’s every bit as good as a similar wine at $250 is still good value (if not quite a bargain).
From $10 to $125, Max Allen picks the best wines he's tried in 2019. Floral arrangements by Saskia Havekes, Grandiflora. James Brickwood
