A secret map lies hidden beneath the veil of pindan (red soil) and veneer of development spreading across Broome’s revitalised Chinatown precinct. Footprints are overlaid with footprints; they weave together the stories of migrants lured here by molluscs growing fat and iridescent in the warm waters of Australia’s north-west.
