The Twin Otter aircraft’s engines are throbbing loudly in my ears. As I look out my window, I notice the dramatic mountain ranges are now towering above us while the trees below are getting very close.

I whip around to peer through the cockpit windscreen, just a metre or two away. There, through a sliver of window, I see it: the startlingly short runway of Tenzing-Hillary Airport.
