Tacked up next to the Timber and Torch restaurant bar at the Steamboat Springs mountain base is a sign: “When athletes gather in Utah they call it the Winter Games. In Steamboat they call it Tuesday.”
It’s a tongue-in-cheek nod to the deep pride Steamboat takes in breeding the most winter Olympians – 100 and counting – of any town in America, and why the resort is better known as Ski Town USA.
