In late 1996, the Graham family was speeding across Sydney. They were expected for Sunday afternoon tea with Diana, Princess of Wales, and her lady-in-waiting at a hotel in Double Bay.

But the Grahams were running late because Professor Bob Graham had been on an 80-kilometre bike ride for charity that morning. He’d had too much sun and the emotional temperature in the family car was running high.
