Why this Australian island is the perfect spot for drinks enthusiasts

Kangaroo Island is big enough and far away enough to feel remote, yet small enough to visit all the winemakers, brewers and distillers in less than two days.

I’m sitting outside Tirage, a new wine bar in Kingscote on Kangaroo Island, on another unseasonably sunny autumn afternoon. As I tuck into some exceptionally good paté made from locally caught snook and sip on a rich, malty amber ale from Kangaroo Island Brewery, it occurs to me that this place is perfect for the booze completist.

You know the type: the whisky lover who has tasted every bottling of Sullivans Cove; the wine collector with the complete set of Grange; the craft beer lover who has visited every brewery in Australia.
