Hospitality empire behind Rockpool reports $288 million loss

A portfolio of restaurant brands including Rockpool recently taken over by lenders has reported a $288 million loss as it struggles under a high debt load.

The hospitality empire, now called Pacific Hunter, grew out of celebrity chef Neil Perry’s high-profile Sydney steak restaurant, Rockpool. It includes Spice Temple, Sake, Fratelli Fresh, El Camino Cantina and Beerhaus. Sixteen of its venues closed over the 2023-24 financial year and the group reported a $76 million loss in 2022.
