When Nick Smart feels stressed, he seeks out the scent of roses. “My sister and I were raised by a single mum, so my grandmother would often mind us, and she had a beautiful rose garden,” explains the founder of Libertine Parfumerie.

“It was always a great time, being in the garden with my grandma and pulling off the rose thorns. It became an escape from other parts of my childhood that weren’t so great.”
