France has a plan to end fast fashion – now Australia does too

As cheap clothing clogs landfill, the fix is in: tax it.

Just a week after France introduced a program to tax fast fashion at $16 per garment, a voluntary scheme that will introduce a 4¢ levy on every piece of clothing sold was launched on Tuesday by Environment Minister Tanya Plibersek.

And she warned that if more progress was not made by the fashion industry, she would be forced to legislate.
