When it opened during the Parisian summer, the Bourse de Commerce – Pinault Collection was widely acclaimed for the robust intervention of Japanese architect Tadao Ando, who had designed a massive concrete drum to sit within the 19th-century building’s circular walls.

Its mass and gravitas effectively convey the importance of the contemporary art collection of French billionaire François Pinault, a part of which is housed there (another selection is held at the Punta della Dogana, also reworked by Ando, in Venice).
