Private track cars prove right formula for race enthusiasts

It's a niche within a niche, but track specials are gaining traction, and fans are spoilt for choice.

There are many people who want to drive a real racing car, something vastly quicker than even the most fearsome street machine.

Since at least the 1950s, there have been high-performance driving schools for such folk, enabling them to improve their skills, even if they have no motor sport ambitions. Alternatively, well-off enthusiasts have bought second-hand race cars to learn the nuances of a particular car and circuit.
