Kathy Shand has broken her silence to say she was not aware of any plot to force her out as chairwoman of Sydney Writers’ Festival, as uncertainty remains over why she resigned last week after 11 years on the board.
In the absence of any official explanation from Sydney Writers’ Festival, hearsay has swirled around what triggered Shand, who is Jewish, to step down just two years into her chairmanship.
