Fine art collection of late Ron Walker to fetch up to $8m
Ron Walker helped build modern Melbourne but the works that hung in his Toorak mansion, and are now for sale, had a very Sydney flavour.
They called him Mr Melbourne. But when it came to Ron Walker’s taste in art, the property tycoon and Formula 1 promoter was a lot more Mr Sydney.
Three art works by Sydney artist Brett Whiteley headline the sale of Walker’s art collection which comprises 20 lots and is estimated to realise between $5.6 million and $7.9 million. The auction will take place through Smith & Singer in Melbourne on July 24.
