After total sales of almost $100 million for the calendar year so far, the Australian art auction scene is largely on pause while the biggest players prepare to harvest their final profits with sales in November.

Internationally, however, it’s all go. Christie’s and Sotheby’s are both celebrating the opening of new premises with gala presentations of art along with mind-boggling pre-sale estimates and prices.
