Ghostly abandoned ballroom a hot new city art space

A disused part of Melbourne’s iconic station has found new life as a venue for some of Australia’s most interesting artists.

The ballroom in Melbourne’s Flinders Street Station is gloriously derelict, which makes it, and the many other rooms on the third floor of the the station’s east side, the perfect venue for an art show.

The COVID-19-disrupted Rising festival used the space to showcase the work of hyperrealist sculptor Patricia Piccinini.
