Sydney Harbour’s Cockatoo Island will soon reverberate to the strains of Bizet, after Opera Australia won permission to stage an immersive outdoor production of Carmen at the former industrial site.

The result of a brainstorm by OA artistic director Lyndon Terracini for new ideas after the pandemic skittled most of OA’s last two seasons, the opera on Cockatoo Island will be staged from November 25 to December 18 next year.
