Key Points

  • Why it matters: Electric vehicles are in the spotlight as cheaper versions come onto the market but there are still 8 million SUV’s, utes and 4WDs with petrol or diesel engines.
  • Ryco is one of the businesses owned by the $1.7 billion ASX-listed GUD Holdings.
  • Ryco has been around since 1936 and some of its products are tested under extreme conditions in V8 Supercars races.

Electric vehicles are slowly making headway in Australia, with about a sixth of all new vehicles sold in Australia being either full battery electric or a hybrid version.

But there are still more than 8 million SUVs, utes and four-wheel drives on Australia’s roads with petrol or diesel-powered engines. Automotive component makers are accelerating their push to develop parts that can make them as efficient as possible.
