Australian travellers should be less inconvenienced by bad weather and unforeseen delays as the Labor government brings in legislation enabling Qantas and Virgin Australia to catch up on their flight schedules.

Transport Minister Catherine King will introduce the Sydney Airport demand management amendment bill on Wednesday, finally acting on changes first recommended to the previous government by former Productivity Commission boss Peter Harris in 2021.
