Scrap restrictions on aviation to curb high prices: Fels

Restrictions on international aviation that prevented Qatar Airways from competing with Qantas are “harmful to the interests of consumers”, a union-backed inquiry into allegations of price gouging has concluded.

The findings of the inquiry, commissioned by the Australian Council of Trade Unions and authored by former competition regulator Allan Fels, will add to pressure on Labor to reconsider whether it blocks requests for more international flights.
