Tourism industry to hold government to mid-2022 border reopening

Qantas has pushed back its expected restart date for international travel until December as tourism operators deal with the prospect of Australia not fully reopening its borders until mid-2022.

With the tourism industry gutted there was no further financial assistance in Tuesday’s federal budget, and it now wants to hold the Morrison government to its commitment of a return to international tourists by the middle of next year.
