Rottnest resort developer upbeat amid ‘paradigm shift’ in spending
Peter Fogarty, one of Australia’s leading wine entrepreneurs who is undertaking a $40 million resort redevelopment on Perth’s Rottnest Island, says a “paradigm shift” in what consumers will pay on dining and hotels makes it an ideal time to be investing in one of Western Australia’s prime tourism destinations.
Speaking from Rottnest ahead of taking possession of the site on Wednesday, Mr Fogarty added it was a good time to be developing rather than operating, given the state’s slow tourism recovery from its strict border closures during the pandemic.
