TPG fears being swept up in push to overhaul merger laws

TPG Telecom fears it is being swept up in the broader campaign to overhaul merger laws by the competition watchdog, which has issued analysis that claims mobile prices had increased after the company’s union with Vodafone.

The $15 billion merger was fiercely opposed by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, whose block on the merger was overturned in the Federal Court. Chairman Rod Sims said on Monday that the “score is on the board” regarding his opposition, referencing the ACCC’s new research.
