Optus and Telstra say it is time for data-hungry video streaming and online gaming providers to help pay for the costs they are imposing on networks, saying it is becoming unfair to expect telcos to shoulder all of the burden.

Optus in particular is pushing hard on the issue, with recently appointed chief executive Kelly Bayer Rosmarin explicitly calling for policies to address the issue.
