A physically restricted Rafael Nadal has crashed out of the Australian Open in the second round after losing to American world No.65 Mackenzie McDonald in straight sets.
Nadal’s wife, Maria Perello, could be seen wiping away tears and his coach, Carlos Moya, looked ashen-faced as the visibly frustrated reigning champion called for the trainer halfway through the match with a hip injury that limited his ability to run and hit backhands.
