What Phil Waugh says needs to be done for the future of rugby union

Rugby Australia chief executive Phil Waugh says broadcasting games on Nine’s free-to-air network and speeding up matches will be critical to the sport as it tries to grow its fan base beyond the long-awaited British and Irish Lions Tour.

The governing body signed a multimillion-dollar broadcast deal with Nine Entertainment earlier this year, which does not include a requirement to air Super Rugby matches on free-to-air television.
