Tennis is a game of small margins. Players can win or lose a match on the basis of just one point out of more than 300 they play.
Britain’s Andy Murray knows this all too well. He won 176 points to Stefanos Tsitsipas’ 169, and still lost. The two-time champion held his face in his hands despairingly upon being informed that an incorrect line call cost him a rare opportunity to try to break Tsitsipas’ serve, at a stage in their second-round match at this year’s Wimbledon where the win was tantalisingly close.
