The post-Barty generation of Australian players has arrived
Maya Joint might speak with a light American accent but the freckled red-head teenager is about to make her main draw debut at the Australian Open in the green and gold as the country’s post-Barty generation rises.
Last week in Hobart she demolished American Sofia Kenin, who broke Australian hearts by beating Barty in the 2020 semi-final at Melbourne Park in straight sets, capping off an epic rise from world No. 684 to 118 in 2024.
