Stars slam match’s 4am finish but Tiley won’t budge on scheduling

Australian Open organisers have defended the tournament’s scheduling after Andy Murray defeated local hope Thanasi Kokkinakis at 4.05am, the second-latest finish ever to a Grand Slam match.

The 35-year-old three-time Grand Slam champion took almost six hours to defeat the 26-year-old Australian in a five-set epic, winning 4-6, 6-7, 7-6, 6-3, 7-5.
