‘Our competition is the couch’: Why Tiley is serious about pickleball

Australian Open boss Craig Tiley says he has fully leaned into pickleball hype as a means of prying younger generations away from their screens and onto the court, regardless of which racquet they pick up first.

Pickleball, a mini version of tennis that uses hollow plastic balls, is the fastest growing sport in the US, with Andre Agassi, Steffi Graf, Tom Brady, Taylor Swift and even George and Amal Clooney already converted.
