NRL takes $30m relocation hit, but saves on meals

When the NRL relocated its competition to Queensland in early July, CEO Andrew Abdo told the clubs it would pick up all the costs. That included 1200 kilograms of ice per team per week and a potentially monstrous food bill.

“Luckily, we negotiated a per person rate [with the hotels], as opposed to a per order rate. So we fixed the cost for us upfront,” Mr Abdo said.
